I am Sonya Grenell
Since the beginning of my tattooing career, I have been attempting to push my ability in exciting new directions. I am extremely grateful to my amazing clients, who have allowed me to hone my skills on fresh new projects regularly. I LOVE when a client gives me a general idea and hands over the reigns to create something entirely new. If I had to classify my style, it would be fantasy illustration and occasionally realism.
I have earned my bachelor’s degree in graphic design from Ferris State University. That has formed my creative process into a melting pot of traditional media and digital media. It also helps with creating visually unique compositions that utilize the muscle structure to help my tattoo designs flow better with the human figure. I own Lighttouch Tattoo in Big Rapids Michigan, and work with a talented and supportive group of artists, who I couldn’t be more proud of. I’m the “hyper-active, drinks-too-much-coffee” member of our little family. Despite being in a relatively small town, my clients travel from all over America, and sometimes from other countries.
Recently, I have made the jump into the convention circuit. It is very humbling to receive awards for my work and to be published in books next to many of the people I look up to in this industry. I look forward to the future and where it will take me. But mostly, I look forward to doing cool tattoos on even cooler clients!
